Service Mechanic - Ingram Equipment Company

Responsibilities: 

  • Perform physical tasks in the shop or field in support of operations including, but not limited to: inspection, repairs and maintenance of equipment and troubleshooting

  • Provides unscheduled repairs of equipment; reviews equipment status with operational personnel and performs scheduled maintenance of trucks and equipment

  • Inspects, repairs, maintains, and makes recommendations and performs modifications to functional parts of a variety of equipment and machinery. Diagnoses maintenance requirements on diesel engines, transmissions, drive lines, differentials, electrical circuits, hydraulic systems, and chassis through diagnostic aids, inspections, and interpretation of equipment reports with assistance. Disassembles, overhauls, and replaces worn parts on equipment as required

  • Reads and interprets work orders to perform required maintenance and service

  • Replace worn or broken parts on all equipment including but not limited to: Pickup trucks, garbage trucks, heavy equipment, and small machines

  • Servicing trucks and equipment and doing preventive maintenance

  • Removing, repairing equipment & truck tires

  • Adjusting brakes and clutches

  • Diagnoses mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic failures and repairs equipment as needed

  • Changing oil and other engine fluids as directed

  • Chassis lubrication

  • Washing Trucks and Containers

  • Minor repair work such as lights, hoses, and brakes

  • Tire repair and changing

  • Stocking shop equipment and supplies

  • Cleaning shop areas and truck cabs

  • Other tasks as directed

  • This job requires some technical training and a good deal of physical strength due to the substantial weight of some heavy truck components

Qualifications and Skills

  • Ability to work safely in a shop environment

  • Mechanical skills should include, but are not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic troubleshooting and repair of trucks and equipment

  • Diesel Mechanic: 1 – 2 years and/or Experience as a heavy duty truck mechanic

  • Experience in working on gas and diesel powered trucks and equipment

  • Must have and supply all hand tools necessary to perform job duties

  • Demonstrated commitment to a clean and safe working environment

  • Must be a high school graduate or equivalent

  • Must possess and maintain a valid state class C driver’s license but a CDL class A or B is preferred

  • Must have a clear driving record

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $15.00 - $20.00 per hour
